It has already been about 90 years since the foun-der of Ohtaka Enzyme Co., Ltd., Mr. Noboru Ohtaka started the development of an enzyme concentrate solution from fermented plant extracts. As a pioneer of fermented drinks from plant extracts, our corporate activities are aimed at contributing to the promotion of human health and social welfare.


Our corporate philosophy is to nurture ideas and techniques, rather than artificially create materials. Thus, based on a full use of the local natural environment and climate in Hokkaido, Ohtaka Enzyme Co.,Ltd. manufactures and sells various types of products such as health drinks, cosmetics, quasi drugs and animal feed, using know−how of fermentation technology that has been accumulated for years for processing plant’s raw materials.


Following the recent reinforcement of our research system, we conduct our own and joint research projects with universities and research institutions to conduct experiments such as the identification and functionality of materials. Amid currently more diversified market demands, Ohtaka Enzyme Co., Ltd. started PB and OEM as well as the original brand, according to a global market expansion from Southeast Asia to China, South Korea and to Europe.

Nutritional Ingredients of Super Ohtaka

Approximately 80% of the plants used to make "Super Ohtaka" a product made by Ohtaka Enzyme, are grown in Hokkaido. Almost half of them are grown and harvested on farms in the vicinity of Date City, where our factory is located. Fresh vegetables and plants are carefully selected as ingredients to ensure the high quality of Ohtaka Enzyme products.

Fermented liquids matured in the spring are blended together with those from autumn to ensure consistently high-quality products throughout the year.

Our manufacturing process performs the same bfunction as the human intestines.

Ingredient plants are processed in cedar barrels using our original formula. The cedar barrels, where the microorganisms live, have been used for generations, and are the most important element for Ohtaka Enzyme.

Fermentation starts when the plants' essence extracted naturally using sugar through osmotic pressure meets lactic acid bacteria, yeast and various other fermentation microorganisms.

Liquid stored in cedar barrels is poured into tanks in the fermentation and aging room, where the temperature is maintained at 37 degrees Celsius, Approximately the same as normal human body temperature. The enzymes contained in fermentation microorganisms help the decomposition and synthesis of the components of each ingredient, thereby initiating the process of fermentation and maturation. As this process is quite similar to the function of human gastrointestinal digestion, the liquid produced through this process is easily digestible.
